মৃত্যুর মুসিবত থেকে কেউ রক্ষা পাবে না। মৃত্যু আমাদের জন্য একটি পরীক্ষা। যেন আমরা নেক আমল করি, আমাদের আমলগুলোকে সুন্দর করি। যাতে করে আমরা উত্তম প্রতিদান পাই, আমাদের প্রতি আল্লাহ তাআলা সন্তুষ্ট হন।

তবে… এ কান্না ও দুঃখটা একটা সীমাবদ্ধ পর্যায়ে থাকা উচিত। যাতে করে ব্যক্তির দুনিয়া ও আখেরাতের কল্যাণ বিনষ্ট না হয়। কান্নাকাটি করতে করতে তার নিজের কাজকর্ম, দায়-দায়িত্ব ও আল্লাহর আনুগত্য পালনে ব্যাঘাত না ঘটে।

বরঞ্চ তার কর্তব্য হবে ধৈর্য ধারণ করা ও কষ্ট হজম করা; যাতে করে সে ধৈর্যশীল হিসেবে সওয়াবের সৌভাগ্য অর্জন করতে পারে, তার গুনাহ মার্জনা হয় এবং মর্যাদা সমুন্নত হয়।

আপনার বান্ধবীর জন্য উপদেশ হচ্ছে- এ মুসিবত ভুলে থাকার জন্য সে যেন পড়াশুনায় মনোনিবেশ করে, কুরআন তেলাওয়াত করে, জায়েয পর্যায়ের ক্রীড়া কৌতুক করে।

আল্লাহর কাছে দুশ্চিন্তা ও বিষণ্ণতা থেকে আশ্রয় প্রার্থনা করে। একাকী ও নিভৃতে না থাকে। কারণ একাকী থাকলে শয়তান তার উপর আধিপত্য বিস্তার করতে সক্ষম হবে।

তার জানা উচিত, নবী সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লাম নারীকে মৃতব্যক্তির জন্য তিনদিনের অধিক সময় শোক প্রকাশ করতে বারণ করেছেন। নবী সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লাম বলেন:

“মৃত্যব্যক্তির জন্য তিনদিনের বেশি শোক করা আল্লাহ ও পরকালের উপর ঈমানদার নারীর জন্য নাজায়েয। তবে নারী তার স্বামীর জন্য ৪ মাস ১০ দিন শোক পালন করবে।” [সহিহ বুখারি (১২৮০) ও সহিহ মুসলিম (১৪৮৬)]

অতএব, কারো মৃত্যুর কারণে কোন নারীর জন্য তিনদিনের বেশি সাজসজ্জা ত্যাগ করে বিষণ্ণ হয়ে কাটানো জায়েয নয়। তবে স্বামীর মৃত্যু হলে স্ত্রী গোটা ইদ্দতকালীন সময় সাজসজ্জা ত্যাগ করবে।

আমরা আল্লাহ তাআলার কাছে প্রার্থনা করছি তিনি যেন, তাকে ধৈর্য ধরার তাওফিক দেন এবং তাকে তাঁর আনুগত্যের পথে কাজে লাগান।

But… this crying and sadness should be limited. So that the welfare of the person in this world and hereafter is not destroyed. Crying should not interfere with his own work, responsibilities and obedience to Allah. Rather, his duty will be to be patient and digest hardships; So that he can attain the good fortune of being patient, his sins are forgiven and his status is elevated.

He should know that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade women to mourn the dead for more than three days. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Mourning a dead person for more than three days is not permissible for a woman who believes in Allah and the Hereafter. But the woman will mourn for her husband for 4 months and 10 days.” [Sahih Bukhari (1280) and Sahih Muslim (1486)]

Therefore, it is not permissible for a woman to spend more than three days without adornment in mourning because of someone’s death. However, if the husband dies, the wife will leave the decoration during the entire period of Iddat.
